datasphere has launched one of the world’s smallest fully embedded Wi-Fi module, the DW-RN171-XC and DW-RN171-XU. The modules are coming as aTHT version with 2mm pitch and features a small footprint (39x25mm), high efficiency, and low power consumption, incorporating Roving Networks RN-171 Wi-Fi Module. The DW-RN171-X also features both a built-in antenna or U.FL connectro and can be integrated into devices supporting various wireless standards including 802.11 b/g. The DW-RN171-X Wi-Fi module s are designed for fast and easy application development of low power sensor and actuator solutions, enabling devices, machines and other systems to connect directly to the Internet for a wide range of emerging machine to machine (M2M) applications. Embedding Wi-Fi directly inside a device makes installation simple as it can use existing infrastructure and works “out of the box” with applicable cloud services. The price for a sample unit is 21,54 EUR for the DW-RN171-XC and EUR 22,50 for the DW-RN171-XU.

Serial WiFi Converter for V.24 (RS-232), RS-422, and RS-485 2-Wire Bus Systems

The WiFi converter provides a quick and easy wireless connection between serial interfaces of the V.24 (RS-232), RS-422, and RS-485 2-wire standard. The wireless connection can extend up to 150 m and is based on the international license-free WiFi standard. The WiFi converter can be used for a wide range of different applications, for example:

• Replacement of simple, serial point-to-point cabling for V.24 (RS-232), RS-422, and RS-485 2-wire interfaces.
• Wireless operation and monitoring for processes.
